CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, September 6, 2019 – The national celebration of the National Teachers’ Month (NTM) will kick off at the Initao National Comprehensive High School (INCHS), Initao, Misamis Oriental, on September 9.
Part one of the kickoff is a caravan at 8:00 a.m. from the Libertad National High School (LNHS) all the way to INCHS for part two, the opening program.
As a prelude, a production number will be given by the select INCHS teachers who will lead the crowd in dancing to the music of “celebration,” after which Joel C. Flores of the Manticao National High School (MNHS) will render a song number titled “Magsimula Ka.”
The opening numbers will be followed by the entrance of colors; the Philippine National Anthem and invocation by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Initao Chorale; and the regional and Misamis Oriental hymns by INCHS Amihan-Sidlakan Dance Troupe; with a special number from the select Special Program for the Arts (SPA) students of Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS).
To give their welcome messages are the Hon. Enerito J. Acain V, mayor, Initao, Misamis Oriental, and Dr. Randolph B. Tortola, schools division superintendent, Division of Misamis Oriental.
Offering their intermission numbers are the INCHS Dance Troupe and Rondalla and the Initao Central School (ICS) Dance Sports Team.
The program will move on with the launching of the 7th Year of the Salamat Po! Letter Writing Advocacy Program aimed at recognizing the valuable contribution of the teachers who continue to inspire and dedicate their time and effort in guiding the Filipino youth, as well as the unveiling of the NTM stamp by Mr. Joel L. Otarra, postmaster general and chief executive officer, Philippine Postal Corporation.
To give their inspirational messages are Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, CESO III, DepEd X regional director, and Mr. Aniceto M. Sobrepeña, co-chair, National Teachers’ Day Coordinating Council (NTDCC).
Likewise, to grace the national event and deliver his keynote speech is Undersecretary Tonisito M.C. Umali, Esq., DepEd Legislative Liaison Office, External Partnerships Service, and School Sports, who will be introduced by Atty. Shirley O. Chatto, chief administrative officer/officer in charge, Office of the Assistant Regional Director.
Moreover, the Honorable Governor Yevgeny Vincente “Bambi” B. Emano, Province of Misamis Oriental, will deliver his message of commitment, which will be followed by the formal declaration of the NTM by USec. Umali.
Closing the program are song and dance numbers by Stephanie Poblete, singing ambassador, and the select Initao and Libertad teachers.
Meanwhile, part three of the kickoff is a press conference at the Midway Beach Resort, Initao, Misamis Oriental, at 11:30 a.m.
The kickoff is spearheaded by NTDCC Presiding Officer USec. Tonisito M.C. Umali, Esq.; NTDCC Co-Chair Aniceto M. Sobrepeña of Metrobank Foundation; DepEd X Regional Director Dr. Arturo B. Bayocot, CESO III; and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Randolph B. Tortola of the Division of Misamis Oriental, the host division.
Meanwhile, this year’s host of the World Teachers’ Day (WTD) celebration at the Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City, come October 5 is DepEd Region X, in coordination with the Local Government Units (LGUs) of Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental.
Anchored on the theme “Gurong Pilipino: Handa sa Makabagong Pagbabago,” the celebration is aimed at honoring those who are in the teaching profession; acknowledging and emphasizing the crucial role, loyal service, and dedicated commitment of teachers in developing globally minded citizens, nurturing families, strengthening communities, and building the nation; revitalizing the image of and respect for teaching as a vocation by increasing awareness of the value of teachers in the Philippine society; taking the occasion as an opportunity to build the image of teaching as an attractive and fulfilling profession; generating widespread support and assistance for teachers; and expressing gratitude for the positive influences of teachers on the Filipino learners.
The World Teachers’ Day, also known as International Teachers’ Day, is held annually on October 5. Established in 1994, it commemorates the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which is a standard setting instrument that addresses the status and situation of teachers around the world.
